In 1964 the Beatles recorded A Hard Day’s Night and Can’t Buy Me Love, Cassius Clay changed his name to Muhammad Ali and Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor got married (for the first time). And Manson Framers opened its doors in Wynnum.
Now an era has come to a close, with Manson Framers having closed their doors in Wynnum for the last time today, Tuesday 15th August.
The business has been run by Cameron and Sharon, members of the original founder Keith Richardson’s family.
“We would like to say thank you to all of our customers over the years.” said Cameron “It’s been a great pleasure and honour to have helped them with their treasured artworks and precious memorabilia and Sharon and I, as well as all the members of our small team would like to say how grateful we are for their faith in and support of our business since we opened in 1964.”
Cameron added that they are still working in the workshop completing all the remaining framing orders and that customers will be contacted by them to arrange collection times when their work is finished.
WynnumCentral understands that the picture framing service will not continue at this stage.
Cameron will re-evaluate and reassess the framing business after a six month period which will most likely result in a greatly downsized operation. There will also be a mailing list on the Manson Framers website where you will be able to leave your name and email address for future contact. This list can also be used for the art supplies shop relocating to Wynnum West and to be run by Sharon trading as Bayside Art Supplies.
The needlework threads side of the business will not continue and there are even further reduced prices.
Team member Krissy Clark will also continue in her speciality of photo restoration from her home studio in Wynnum West, under the name Art by Krissy Clark.
As well as thanking their customers, Cameron and Sharon also thanked their committed staff both past and present for their service over the years.
Editor’s Note
Manson Framers have been stalwart supporters of the WynnumCentral project, including the markets that ran in Edith Street several years ago, the launch of the Republic of Wynnum (Manson Framers have always been ‘by appointment’ to the Republic for framing of aristocratic titles!) and this website, and we would also like to thank them for their support over the years.
WynnumCentral wishes everyone at Manson Framers the very best in their future endeavours …and we are very sad to see them leave Wynnum Central.
