When Wynnum’s Majestic Cinema answered the call of thousands of local residents and opened a cinema in Wynnum nearly three years ago back in March 2021, it’s fair to say that, as COVID restrictions were (albeit slowly) coming to an end in Queensland, it was difficult to foresee other problems.
He stressed that the cinemas – including the Wynnum cinema – would remain open for business during the restructure and that he was optimistic that the business would emerge stronger.

2023 saw the closure of a number of well established retail businesses in Wynnum Central and there are probably more to come – it is tough times for anyone in retail, especially smaller operators. What is interesting is that there are also quite a few new arrivals in Wynnum Central too – WynnumCentral will put together a short summary of the comings and goings last year soon.
PS Just as we were putting together this article we heard about another pending exit from Wynnum – the Thai D Thai restaurant at the North end of Bay Terrace also recently announced they were closing after 6 years in business.
