Election: We interview ALP candidate for Bonner
Laura Fraser Hardy is the ALP candidate for Bonner. Two years ago she and her husband moved to the Wynnum-Manly area – her husband had gone to school locally – and the appeal of living a kilometre and a half from the water’s edge was hard to resist.
Laura sees the area likely to benefit greatly from Labor initiatives such as investment in public services, the funding for the superclinic and better schools funding as a result of the implementation of the recommendations of the Gonski Report (although of course at this stage the Queensland Government has not signed up to the reforms). She says that all public schools, including the Darling Point Special School, stand to benefit from the better schools funding project.
She is generally supportive of measures to revitalise the Wynnum central shopping area, adding that personally she would like to see more public services in the area and that, although she currently does shop in the area, she would like to be able to do all her shopping in Wynnum Central. And she’d really like to see a nice little bar open up in Wynnum Central. Couldn’t agree more.
