The Palais development very close to opening
The Palais (or should we call it the The Palais) development is very close to being finished. ThinkTank architects have moved into a space on the first floor and a Coffee Club (or is that a The Coffee Club??) will be opening on the ground floor. More on The Coffee Club soon.
Of the 26 residential units in the development, 14 have already been sold and 12 are still available (although two have current expressions of interest). The units that are still available range from $530,000 (2 bed) to $660,000 (2 bed + study) in price (see photos below)
Bohai & Co
Vince and Nicole who used to run Artigiano (Moroccan made homewares) in Bay Terrace have opened up Bohai & Co in Edith Street in the little shop where Indie Vibes used to be. Check them out.
Save the Children opening where Endeavour used to be
If you are an op shop shopper you will be delighted to know that the old Endeavour shop in Bay Terrace will shortly reopen as a Save the Children op shop. We don’t know exactly when but expect it to open pretty soon.
High Point development by Niclin Group, sponsors of seafood festival
Chestnut Street will be the site of a new five level building due to start construction soon. It will be called ‘high point’ and is being developed by Niclin Group, major sponsors of the Wynnum Seafood Festival to be held in October.
Coverage of Florence St in Sunday Mail
Florence Street is busy cementing its reputation as the trendy end of town and featured recently in the Sunday Mail (Sunday 10th July). Wendy Hughes, writer for the Food-Breakfast Review section visited Florence Street Coffee and tried their breakfast menu. While she was there she also popped into the Little Gnome book/coffee shop and interior design shop Cultivate Design Co.

Especially the top notch “coffee club”….. Awesome… Will do my best to avoid that….
Another ‘Op Shop’ not the greatest reason to encourage visitors to the area. Very disappointing!
Hopefully the Coffee Club draws more visitors to the area. At the same time (and no disrespect to the Coffee Club owners) visitors might discover the range of other great cafes. Wynnum has a very high quality, but underrated, dining scene to discover. The Olive, Frenchies, Pine and Cedar, Monty’s, Dramanti… all great places with good food, good service, great coffee. Colossal Cafe….try the grilled vegetable stack for $9.90! And Pierre’s…THE best homemade takeaway ever. Just need a genuine artisan bakery and good quality deli to top the food scene. Add more quality homeware and furniture stores and Wynnum Central should become the Brisbane ‘day trip’ destination.
Try Florence Street Coffee. It is amazing. Fabulous coffee with a great healthy menu, not to mention friendly welcoming service. Let’s drop the sarcasm & welcome all that Wynnum has to offer. The demand for cafes & shops of all varieties will only increase as the population does likewise. Let’s support the local small business owners.
